The Science Behind BreatheWell

Air Flow

When the user exhales into the device—either through the straw attachment or while wearing the clip-on module—the air is guided through a precisely designed airflow channel. This ensures consistent sampling by filtering out moisture and stabilizing temperature and humidity before it reaches the sensors.

Sensor Array

Inside the device, the VOC sensors (MQ-135, MQ-136, MQ-138) detect trace gases like acetone, ammonia, ethanol, and hydrogen sulfide—chemical markers linked to stress, metabolism, and gut health. The DHT22 sensor captures environmental data to normalize readings, ensuring accuracy regardless of temperature or humidity.

OLED Screen

The compact OLED display provides real-time feedback through a color-coded Wellness Index, summarizing overall breath quality and internal balance. It allows users to instantly view whether their readings indicate normal, elevated, or concerning biochemical levels—without needing to open the app..

Mobile App

Data from the sensors is transmitted wirelessly via the ESP32 microcontroller to the BreatheWell app, where an AI model analyzes the user’s “Breathprint.” The app tracks trends over time, provides personalized insights, and helps users understand how daily habits, stress, or diet influence their health.
